Randy Gene
Moss, born on 13th February 1977, is an ex-American player in the field of
football. He was a player in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons
with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee
Titans, and the San Francisco 49ers. He is widely recognized as Jerry Rice's
best wide receiver. He holds the NFL single season touchdown reception record
of 23 in 2007, the NFL rookie single-season touchdown reception record (17 in 1998)
and is ranked second on NFL's all-time regular-season touchdown receptions with
156. Moss was well-known for his prowess in securing contested catches and the
word "mossed" has been incorporated into football vernacular.
Following football, he began working for ESPN as an analyst in the studio for
their Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown programs. Moss was born
at Rand, West Virginia. He attended DuPont High School, one of two schools
later consolidated into Riverside High School, where he was a star in football,
basketball as well as baseball and track. Randy was also a part of the school's
debate team. Moss was a DuPont Panthers' football player who led them to
back-toback states championships in 1992 and 1993. Moss was an outstanding wide
receiver. He also was a free safety, and returned punts. In 1994, he was
honoured with the Kennedy Award as the West Virginia Football Player of the
Year. Parade magazine named him to their annual All-American high school
football team in 1995 and in 2009, he was named among the 50 best football
players from high school of all time.
